DBMS, Database Management Systems, 48 hours, 3 credits. In this course, we will introduce the fundamental theory of database systems and database management theory of relational, hierarchcal, and network database organization, with emphasis on the first views of data, data organization, data dependency and redundancy, normal forms, query language.

  • Textbook: Database System Concepts (6th Edition).
  • Grading: The grading of the course will be based on:
    • Homework Assignments: 15%
    • Computer Labs: 15%
    • Project: 10%
    • Final Exam: 60%
  • Assignments: Homework assignments are handout after each lecture. The computer labs wil be done using either PHP or Python. If you don't know much about these two programming languages, I urge you to acquaint yourlsef with them.
  • Honesty: Any incidents of cheating will be penalized.
