- November 4, 2014, SJTU-software iGEM team won 2014 iGEM competition Gold Medal Award. Dr. Wei was one of the founders and instructors of SJTU-software iGEM team.
- Aug. 25, 2014, Dr. Wei received an RMB 800K NSFC fund to find and characterize sequence modules with complex structures in metagenomes.
- Jan. 14, 2014, Dr. Wei received an National High-Tech R&D Program (863)RMB 650,000 to create a new generation of microbial genome analysis system. (Total fund RMB 7.2M, PI: Prof. Yin Jiang, SCBIT)

- Dec. 4, 2012, Prof. Philip Green, one of the leading scientists in Genomics, visited Shanghai Jiao Tong University and give a talk "How much of the human genome is functional? " .
- Oct.11,2012, Dr. Wei received an RMB 1.04M fund from the National Basic Research Program of China (973) about the degeneration mechanism and recovery potential of coral reefs in South China Sea. (total fund 5.72M, PI: Zhiyong Li, SJTU).
- Aug. 17, 2012, Dr. Wei received an RMB 800,000 NSFC fund to find and characterize genes containing repeat regions.
- Sept. 25, 2010 , Prof. Gary Stormo , one of the world-renowned pioneers in bioinformatics and genomics, visited Shanghai Jiao Tong University and give a talk "Recognition Models for Protein-DNA Interaction Specificity".
- June 29, 2010 , Prof. Michael Brent from WashU visited us in Shanghai Jiao Tong University and gave a talk "Kinetic Models of Gene Regulatory Networks".
- March 1, 2010 , Dr. Wei was invited by Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST) to give a talk in Japan-Korea-China Symposium on Bioinformatics held in Tokyo,Japan. Title of the talk: "Finding diversity of a microbe community: 16S rRNA or metagenome shotgun sequencing method?"

- September 5, 2009, Dr. Wei recieved an RMB300,000 NSFC fund to develope an algorithm to measure the impact of SNPs on gene structure variations.
